Team RISE

6:30-7:30 p.m.

Starts on Monday, September 18.

1st Monday - St. Thomas More, 515 W St. Thomas More Way, Spokane

3rd Monday - St. Mary, 304 S Adams Road, Spokane Valley

Team RISE is our open-ended program that connects grieving children and teens with peers and mentors.

We believe mentoring and peer support are the first steps in a lifelong grieving journey. Volunteer mentors engage in recreational and educational activities with the children, focusing on cultivating long-lasting relationships, as well as fostering resilience and strength.

Unlike Camp Cope, which is structured and classroom-inspired, Team RISE functions in a relaxed setting, facilitating spontaneity and bonding between peers and mentors.

Adult peer support groups are offered concurrently with Team RISE sessions. All Team RISE sessions begin with a light meal and refreshments for participants.

Camp Cope

6:30-7:30 p.m.

Starts on Monday, September 11.

Summit Church, 1003 E Trent Ave, Spokane, WA

Camp Cope is our 16-week program that meets every other week. Developed by Adam's Place, Las Vegas, NV, the goals of Camp Cope are to make connections, build resiliency, and foster healthy coping skills. Trained facilitators lead peer groups and encourage children and teens to express the many feelings that are a part of the grieving process.

All activities, selected by a team of Child Life Specialists, focus on healthy coping skills and ways to communicate emotions and follow a theme with age-appropriate objectives, such as recreation, art, expression, and communication.

Peer groups provide a safe, small, structured environment for kids who have experienced loss, in order to decrease isolation, increase self-confidence, and build resiliency, as well as encourage peer interaction, connections, and support.
